There are simple precautions that you can make to prevent damage to your eyes. Wearing eye protection when working with tools or wearing sunglasses when you are exposed to lots of UV light from the sun can greatly reduce the chances of damaging your eyes. Exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet with antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids can greatly reduce your chances of developing cataracts or macular degeneration. Smoking can cause damage to the eyes long term.
Be sure to see an eye doctor at least twice a year to have your eyes checked on and be aware of diseases that you might be prone to genetically.
